Jim L. De Tar joined Heritage Investors, LLC in 2009.  His primary focus is in estate planning and portfolio management to optimize wealth accumulation for those close to upcoming retirement or already retired. He successfully completed the CFP^®board exam in July 2009.  

Jim earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University,  Ames, Iowa, in 1984,  and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Drake University, Des Moines, Iowa, in 1992.   He entered the financial services industry in 2002 and later became an equity partner in a Knoxville based planning firm in 2004. Jim’s previous employment includes holding management positions for Cargill, Inc. and other processing plants in Iowa, Minnesota, and Tennessee.

Jim has specializes in analyzing how current investments and long-term strategies will impact a client’s estate in looking toward retirement and leaving a heritage for your family.  He is married and has two adult children. Jim enjoys spending time with his family, bowling, running, and participating in full distance marathons.
